Craigslist is a widely used platform for posting and finding listings across various categories like items for sale, jobs, and services. Its simple, locally-focused design and free access make it popular for transactions and connections. However, the outdated interface can be difficult to navigate. This redesign project aims to modernize the platform, improving the user experience while maintaining its core values of simplicity and accessibility.
Craigslist’s design makes it hard for users to quickly find what they need. The cluttered interface and long lists can be confusing and slow.
Redesign the platform to make it easier and faster for users to search for products and services. Focus on clean design, optimize categories, and easy navigation to improve the overall experience.
My research shows Craigslist's outdated design, confusing navigation, and lack of user engagement features hinder the user experience.
Craigslist’s minimalist, text-heavy layout looks outdated, lacking modern design elements and brand identity.
The cluttered interface and lack of clear visual hierarchy make it difficult for users to navigate and find listings.
Absence of personalization options, search filters, and user profiles leads to difficulty in establishing trust.
I conducted 20 in-depth interviews with Parsons students to gather qualitative insights about their experiences using Craigslist. Through this research, I identified several key pain points and potential solutions:
